Nugget #1- Many pundits were calling for a drastic decline this season for the Washington Capitals, based on career years for so many Caps last season. HOLD ON! Great goaltending by Logan Thompson and Charlie Lindgren, along with offense from Tom Wilson, 10 pts, Dylan Strome, 9 pts, Aliaksei Protas, 8 pts, and defenseman Jeff Chychrun, 6 pts, are continuing their stellar play from last season. OV has only one goal. Imagine when he gets going?

Nugget #2- Early results have the Pittsburgh Penguins way, way ahead of last year's start. 5-2-0 start compared to last season, when their 4th win didn't happen until their 12th game. "The news of their demise might be premature."

Nugget #3- With 6 of their first 7 games this year being at home in ScotiaBank Arena, the Toronto Maple Leafs went 3-2-1. Last season, a powerhouse at home with a 27-13-1 record, the Marner-less Leafs' new additions, Roy, Maccelli, and Joshua, have combined for only 5 points so far.
